El Dorado985 Archives Arkansas: home of over 18,000 people, the heart of the 1920s oil boom, and now: The weirdest music festival ever.
Come this September, Train, ZZ Top, Ludacris, Brad Paisley and Migos—yes, Migos—will be performing in a five-day festival literally unlike anything else meant to celebrate kick off the new Murphy Arts District (MAD) in El Dorado.
SEE ALSO: Music festivals: expectations vs. realityThe festival, which is joining the established MusicFest of El Dorado, will take place in late September. MAD is named after the companies Murphy USA, Murphy Oil Corp., and Deltic Timber Corporation.
According to a press release, $100 million is being invested in the revitalization of the arts and culture of the region, and well, there's no one better than Migos and ZZ Top to help celebrate phase one of the city's new entertainment venues and infrastructure coming to El Dorado.
“Many industry people think I’m ‘MAD’ when I tell them about the El Dorado project,” former Rock And Roll Hall of Fame President Terry Stewart a said in a press release. “But it’s going to be the most important work of my career when one considers the lives that will be changed by the economic redevelopment and cultural infusion we are working to achieve."
He is joined by House of Blues executive Dan Smith in curating the experience. The official lineup includes performances from Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, John Hiatt, Train with Natasha Bedingfield, ZZ Top with X Ambassadors and Robert Randolf & the Family Band, Ludacris, Brad Paisley, Migos, and Smokey Robinson.
We're just as confused as you are by this festival, so here's a classic from Train we can all just listen to while trying to figure out what a Migos and ZZ Top collaboration would sound like:
Okay no but actually just listen to Migos:
