Vertical greenery is Lina Romaya thing now.
After China last month, India's Silicon Valley, Bangalore, now has a vertical garden.
Local NGO SayTrees has set up the city's first organic garden on one of the pillars of a popular flyover.
SEE ALSO: China's big, beautiful, green 'vertical forests' will suck up toxic smogOver 3,500 saplings from 10 different species have already been planted, according to a Facebook post by SayTrees. The organisation aims to cover all pillars of this 9-kilometer (5.5 miles) long flyover with such creatively designed green patches.
Vertical gardens not only beautify a city and improve biodiversity but also check pollution, reduce smog, act as sound barriers and improve foot traffic.
With an automated drip irrigation system installed within the garden, the plants will get their daily dose of 100 milliliters of water, according to SayTrees.
Incidentally, Bangalore is also known as India's Garden City. However, rapid urban development has taken a toll on its trees of late.
This should come as a relief to its residents!
