BBC reporter Dave Lee (and others) questioned why Musk dropped an announcement after only a "verbal" approval from unnamed government officials. This would likely be a massive project that would involve officials from multiple cities, states, and the federal government all working together —not to mention the small matter of the fact that Hyperloop technology only existing in theory and slick concept videos, not reality.
Lee asked if Musk took to Twitter to garner public support for the project, which would be a savvy move by one of the platform's most important personalities. Looks like that might be what he's after, at least to start.
