The teaser gives fans a glimpse of the 2020 Candyman's infamous hook hand in a velvet-lined case, followed by the hook emerging from a sleeve.

Because Candyman (2020) is a "legacyquel" in the vein of Halloween(2018), it will disregard the 1992 Candyman's two sequels to serve as a direct followup to the original. Actor Tony Todd, who played Candyman in all three extant movies, will return to the role, which makes this teaser a potential look at Todd donning the hook for the first time in 20 years.

Bringing Todd back and using Twitter to "summon" Candyman are both effective choices on behalf of Candyman's development since the legend of Candyman revolves around the ghost of a lynching victim perpetuating the memory of his murder by instilling fear in later generations.
