Coffee lovers,Watch The Desk Girl Online beware.
Death Wish Coffee, a very popular (and strong) brand of coffee, is recalling its Death Wish Nitro product because, well, there's a chance it can actuallykill you.
Oh the terrifying irony.
SEE ALSO: Why some people can't handle coffeeThough Death Wish brands itself as "The World's Strongest Coffee," in this case, the amount of caffeine in the product isn't the issue.
As the U.S. Food and Drink Administration (FDA) detailed in a release, the current process used to make the canned cold brew infused with nitrogen has the potential to create botulin. Yikesssss.
Botulin is a toxin that causes people to experience a severe and potentially fatal form of food poisoning. And the FDA warns can also lead to, "weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing."
Death Wish also posted a voluntary recall statement citing the decision was made as a "precautionary measure" after a specialist recommended that an additional step be added to the production of the nitro cold brew.
"Our customers’ safety is of paramount importance and Death Wish Coffee is taking this significant, proactive step to ensure that the highest quality, safest, and of course, strongest Coffee products we produce are of industry-exceeding standards — thus we are taking this measure of recalling all Death Wish Nitro cans from shelves," Death Wish Coffee's founder Mike Brown said in a statement to the FDA.
And while no illnesses related to Death Wish Nitro have been reported yet, those who've purchased cans of the recalled coffee are advised to dispose of it.
The company is offering a full refund to anyone who shows proof of purchase, and it's already refunded online orders that took place within the past 60 days.
So until this issue is straightened out, you might want to just play it safe with boring old Starbucks.
