【Eng Sub】
You’ll finally be Eng Subable to control your Sonos speakers with Amazon's Alexa — and it might not be the only digital assistant in the device’s future.
The news was revealed earlier this week at an event in Boston, where Sonos executives also made it sound like the company is gunning for even more AI partners, which could provide users with a "brand-agnostic voice control system," CNETreports.

The device didn't have the AI built-in, though — the music was being played through the speakers via an Amazon Echo Dot, which is how Alexa joined the party.
The Sonos-Alexa connection isn't quite synced up yet, and Leblond told the audience that the company is working to streamline the system to make it more "natural."
Sonos owners with other smart assistant devices, like the Google Home, might have something to look forward to as well. Sonos CEO Patrick Spence reportedly told the event's audience the company is "engaged with every major voice player out there today" and hopes to support more than one AI system in the future.
We reached out to Sonos to ask about other potential partners and will update the story if we receive a response.
The company's website has teased Alexa collaboration for some time now, touting an upcoming simple software update to pair the systems, but there hasn't been an update to the page since last November. At this week's event, no timeline was given for the Alexa connectivity beyond "2017," and follow up posts on social media have been similarly vague.
For clarity, Alexa on Sonos in Beta hasn't started yet & won't until later this year; however, join the program and be one of first to know

For now, Alexa can be accessed by certain Sonos speakers through a line-in connection. It's not quite the seamless wireless connectivity we've come to expect from smart devices, but it's better than nothing.
